MRI Technician

DEPARTMENT: Radiology MRI

HOURS: 8 hrs/wk, afternoon/nights, weekend & holiday call rotation

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs all magnetic resonance procedures to produce cross-sectional images of patient's body for diagnostic purposes according to protocol and age specific needs, including patient preparation, practicing MRI safety, injects patients with IV contrast media as required, operates the MRI unit and ancillary equipment. Clerical duties in RIS, PACS and hospital computer systems are associated with this position. This position will rotate call in the MRI department. Provides coverage to other Radiology positions in the department as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED equivalency required. Graduated from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology and accredited school of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology. Have a current license as a Radiological Technologist from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). Previous hospital x-ray department or private radiological laboratory experience required. Minimum of two (2) years experience preferred. Must be Registered or MRI Registry eligible †may be hired with two years to complete registry and non-compliance may result in termination. Evidence of BLS (AHA certification) required. Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
