My client, a globally recognised, leading Financial Services organisation has an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mortgage Credit Risk Manager to join on a contract basis.

This will be a 6 month contract initially, with scope to renew. Competitive rates available.

The successful candidate will have a mortgage background within banking, experience of credit scoring and statistical modelling or similar, coupled with the ability to translate complex analytical concepts into a concise and simple proposal. Alongside this you will have sound knowledge of risk adjusted returns, risk based pricing, portfolio management, stress testing and segmentation analysis.

Purpose of the role:

This role is a 2nd Line risk management role responsible for the development and monitoring of retail credit strategies and insight into the emerging threats to the credit profile of the mortgage portfolios of customers and related assets.

Key responsibilities include:

- To be responsible for the effective credit risk management of the Home Lending portfolios in a manner consistent with strategic aims and the target credit quality profile.
- Work with Product MD and their teams in the ongoing customer management and portfolio optimisation, in response to customer, business and market drivers.
- Identify opportunities to optimise risk return in acquisition and account management strategies.
- Lead the development and implementation of credit strategies processes and systems to effectively control credit risks in support of market share growth and credit quality.
- Make recommendations on strategy/acceptance strategies. Ensure that acquisition strategies and pricing fully recognise the expected impairment and capital costs, and that acquired assets meet the Bank's minimum profitability returns.
- Support delivery across the wider team of ongoing portfolio management activity by proactive identification of emerging risks and by driving corrective action to manage portfolio quality
- Develop and optimise acceptance/refer/decline strategies in conjunction with manual underwriting by the Lending Units, optimise resourcing in relation to lending regulation, credit strategy and commercial drivers.
- Evaluate/accept new scorecard and behavioural models, and embed in portfolio and customer strategy
- Develop and manage key performance drivers to retain portfolios within agreed credit risk appetite/limits.
- Agree impacts of ongoing price changes on credit risk parameters and impact on risk-adjusted profitability for both new business acquisition and existing customer Risk Based Pricing strategies.
- Evaluate portfolio strategy performance and recommendations for submission to risk committee

Duties:

- Develop and review ongoing cut-offs, product mix, new vs. existing and review portfoliorefine/revise and propose changes to the Products MD.
- Effective co-operation with operational units to improve customer experience and reduce cost by the development of strategies and policies for, where appropriate, increased automation of decisions, always balancing the need for accuracy against the speed of response.
- Working with teams across the bank to ensure the appropriate design, sign off, implementation, testing and monitoring of credit strategies in line with the agreed credit strategies.
- Fully conversant with the personal banking market place and associated legal/regulatory requirements and ensure that the credit strategy and processes, and systems owned by Retail Credit Risk, meet laid down requirements.
- Active and effective change management through successful design, development and delivery of key strategic initiatives
