Molecular Interaction Scientist I

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is enhancing its molecular interactions core resource in the area of isothermal titration calorimetry. Located within the Department of Structural Biology and with strong ties to Chemical Biology and Therapeutics, the core is seeking an exceptional scientist to lead this effort. The successful candidate will have an established track-record in all areas of calorimetry with particular emphasis on protein-protein and protein-small molecule interactions, the latter to meet the needs of expanding drug discovery initiatives. Experience related with techniques that exist within the core is highly desirable, namely, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC), and light scattering. Training in these techniques will be provided as necessary. This individual will, in consultation with faculty, perform calorimetry experiments in support of ongoing research, as well as train hands-on instrument users and oversee their experiments and data analysis. Other related core facilities at St. Jude include bioinformatics, cell imaging, protein production, molecular synthesis, X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, high-throughput chemical screening, and computing. The overall charge of these institutional cores is to assist the research faculty in carrying out projects that are relevant to the mission of the hospital - to find cures for children with catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.
