Mobile Apps Developer

Background
Our central government client has a 3 month requirement for a Mobile Apps Developer based in Southend on Sea.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
* As a developer you will work within a small multi-disciplinary team of developers, to support one or more products or projects.. Initially you will be responsible for working with that team to improve existing products, extend their coverage and look at prototypes with a view to further development. The main responsibilities of the post are. Leading in development of organisations existing native Mobile apps for iPhone and Android. Integrating the apps with the API for the equivalent online service. Extending the Android platform to include BlackBerry. Helping integrate the product with the automated test suite to support a Continuous Deployment environment. Transferring skills to the in-house development team. Sharing knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team, both developers and non-developers. Taking part in 2nd-line support of applications and platforms

Skills/Experience Required
Essential. Solid development experience in at least 2 programming languages (Java (android) and Objective C). Experience integrating with SOAP web services. Ability to learn new technologies rapidly, and embrace change. Experience building mobile apps including unit testing and basic requirements analysis. An ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience. Experience working on technical projects within a team. Knowledge of the use of version control systems such as GIT. Ability to quickly research and learn new programming tools and techniques. Full understanding and practical experience of agile development. Experienced in Test driven development. Full understanding and practical experience of App management through iTunes Connect and Google Play Store Desirable. Familiarity with Webtrends Analytics tagging. Familiarity with web development in HTML5, CSS, Javascript. Knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems. System administration and configuration management skills including Jira, Serena Dimensions, Jenkins, GIT. Experience presenting work at user groups and conferences. Experience of working with JavaScript libraries to produce data visualizations. Experience of handling large data sets and scaling their handling and storage
