Migration manager - switching solutions
Description of project:
This involves the development of a new Mobile Office system and the migration from the existing system which is soon to be end-of-life. The purpose of this role is to plan, manage and deliver that migration from Legacy to new system.
Role/tasks:
The migration project manager will have total responsibility for the migration of this strategically important product. The migration must be carried out as seamlessly as possible - the impact upon the service must be minimal. To the customers, this change of system should just be seen as a platform change rather than a complete system change.
Example of tasks for the migration manager:
Manage scope, team, budget/cost & delivery of all migration project deliverables, technical and business
Secure resources, assigning roles & responsibilities
Monitor & control project progress and dependencies between it and other work-streams within the parent project structure (particular testing)
Liaise with senior business management to identify and plan non-technical migration activities and responsibilities
Requirements for competence:
Excellent stakeholder management skills
Experience in B2B mobile operator products (eg switching solutions) a distinct advantage
Demonstrated and repeatable experience of managing the migration of Legacy to new systems
Strong business understanding to ensure objectives are maintained - but also detail-orientated
Highly self-motivate & ability to work under pressure - this project is high-profile and will have aggressive timelines that must be achieved
