Microsoft Systems Engineer - £30 to 35k - West Yorkshire

MyWest Yorkshirebased client is urgently seeking a Senior Microsoft Systems engineer for an exciting new permanent position.

They are at the early stages of what is planned to be vast growth over the coming year, and they would like an excellent Microsoft Systems Engineer to be an integral part of it.

The successful candidate will have some public sector experience.

Within this role you will be required to deliver operational systems and new project development, and therefore any project management experience from bid writing to delivery and final report writing would be essential.

The ideal candidate would have technical knowledge suitable to support the Microsoft Systems currently in development; these technologies are planned to include:

~ Microsoft Active Directory, design and maintenance.

~ Microsoft Windows 2008 Servers, including clustering.

~ Exchange 2010.

~ Novell ZCM 10 Desktop Management.

~ VMware ESX 4.

The specific duties for the role will include the following:

~ Work with third parties in migration from Novell to Microsoft.

~ Establish and maintain a robust and secure server infrastructure.

~ Assist in the design and installation of IT services in two new builds.

~ Monitor and respond to server performance issues.

~ Implement solutions delivered by the System Development team.

~ Maintain Microsoft Active Directory, monitoring and performing health checks.

~ Provide extended user account support.

~ Provide support and maintain Exchange 2010.

~ Maintain the FIM installation.

~ Develop SCOM, provide system availability reports.

~ Application delivery using ZenWorks.

~ Ensure servers and data security, in conjunction with the network security staff.

~ Manage server backup routines and ensure service availability.

This is a specialist role, and therefore in order to be considered, you must be able to show great technical understanding in the following:

~ Microsoft Active Directory

~ Windows 2008 Server

~ Exchange 2010 Email Servers

~ VMware Infrastructure

~ Novell ZenWorks

~ Network Security

~ Linux Operating System

You must also have a proven track record of supporting a multi-site Microsoft Enterprise, and have proven experience of supporting Active Directory.

The ideal candidate will also have experience of server virtualisation, and ideally a high level of technical knowledge in NOS, including Windows 2008 R2 server.

As noted above, any experience of FIM would also be ideal.

This is a senior role, and we require someone with good commercial experience. However, along with this proven technical ability, you must have the following qualifications:

Minimum of Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C) or able to demonstrate equivalent level of ability.

MCSE - Windows 2003 server.

MCITP:EnterpriseAdministrator

MCITP:EnterpriseMessaging Administrator 2010

Evidence of on-going professional development in the area of work and ability to demonstrate how this has been applied in the workplace will also be essential.
