Microsoft BI Developer (Technology Officer)

THE ROLE

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Business Intelligence Developer looking to support Adult Social Care in the delivery of front line services to vulnerable adults in Essex through the use of technology.

Designing, creating, maintaining and deploying reporting systems, and producing reports for management information and statutory returns to allow the best possible business decisions. Working as part of a dynamic, high performing likable challenging team!

Work with users on developmental projects to ensure the effective use of databases and other electronic information management systems.

Act as an 'expert' for staff in the service in relation to the use and application of a variety of ICT and reporting systems, providing advice and 'troubleshooting' service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Interpret functional business requirements to design and document reporting solutions.
- Produce reports to written technical specifications.
- Create, document, and implement unit test plans, scripts, and carry out unit testing.
- Investigate, analyse and document reported defects.
- Perform maintenance development and correction of identified defects.
- Performs related duties as assigned as part of our formal development methodology.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with our customers.

SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED

- A thorough understanding of Database design principles, and Entity relationship theory.
- Highly developed SQL skills, including T-SQL.
- Experience of SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and MDX.
- Flexible attitude, ability to perform under pressure.
- Ability to think creatively and apply known patterns and approaches to the identified problem.
- Good planning skills including the ability to provide accurate time estimates.
- Ability to work well within a team, to work collaboratively on projects.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge of formal development methodologies

ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS

- ETL design, Data Profiling and Dimensional Modelling.
- MS Excel/Access: Expert in VBA
