Microbiologist (m/f)

- Develop & implement a microbiological sampling and testing program for water, raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), environmental samples & finished products at the facility (This plan must be based on QS 023)
- Ensure all testing is performed according to corporate methods, policy and regulatory requirements and adheres to good microbiological practices
- Set up and administration of a laboratory quality assurance system that covers method and material qualification as well as equipment IQ/OQ/PQ, calibration & maintenance
- Understand and use basic laboratory safety equipment and instructions, precautions in handling and disposing of biological materials, in accordance with local environmental regulations
- Ensure that the reporting of data and maintenance of records is documented
- In partnership with operations & engineering, develop and implement plant floor micro control programs based on the C&S Guidelines, Control Point Monitoring, Micro Susceptibility Index and Process and Water Validation
- Devise and execute a program of routine problem resolution and continuous improvement
- Train & develop the laboratory staff using the principles of coaching & feedback as well as the Competency Development Map for Microbiology
- Participate in internal audits and external audits
- Interface with Global & Divisional Microbiology teams to provide input on programs, procedures and methods, and receive guidance & support on implementation of programs
- Capture key learnings, best practices, potential issues/trends and opportunities for improvement and communicate globally, divisionally and locally on a regular basis
- Degree in Microbiology or related major
- Industrial experience (Cosmetics, Pharmaceutical, and Food) in the field of quality control and quality assurance
- Experience working in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment both in a lab and with exposure to plant floor micro control programs
- Computer skills (SAP and Lotus Notes is a plus), technical skills, presentation skills
- Adequate written and spoken English required (German is a plus)
