Mental Health Technician

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Assists in delivering continuous individual patient care, interaction, supervision and role modelling to pediatric patients and families under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The MHT will assist the treatment team in the collection of data, observation and reporting of physical and behavioral changes to licensed staff, de-escalation of patients and maintaining safety of patients and the environment. MHT†s working in ESBH (1510) will also assist with the disposition of patients.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

High School Graduate or equivalent is required; degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, recreational therapy or related therapeutic discipline is preferred. Must have basic verbal and written communication skills. One year of related experience, with understanding and knowledge of psychiatric care techniques and mental illness is preferred. Current Health Care Provider BLS (or equivalent) training is required.
