Medical Lab Technologist

Projektbeschreibung

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Perform all routine and special clinical chemistry, hematological, coagulation, and urinalysis and other tests according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Manual.
- Implement and validate new assays.
- May assist with in assay development procedures.
- Develop skills in new methods, instruments, and technologies.
- Perform all quality control checks on instruments, reagents, and techniques, maintain quality control and calibration logs.
- Prepare and check reagents and supplies.
- Perform calculations for work solutions or other calculations as required during experimental procedures.
- Perform required routine maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Maintain the inventory of and order laboratory supplies.
- Collect biological samples from study subjects.
- Process samples for analysis or storage and shipment.
- Train personnel in laboratory procedures as assigned.
- Perform data entry and monitor laboratory information management system (LIMS).
- Recognize and correct any improperly functioning instruments or inaccurate test procedures.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas.
- Maintain instrument log books.
- Write new or updated procedures for the SOP Manual.
- Specimen processing, verification of specimen compliance, and operation of centrifuges.
- Aliquoting specimens
- Delivering specimens to proper bench
- Preparing specimens for storage
- Retrieve samples from storage
- Arrange samples in proper order into specimen containers
- Properly pack specimen containers into shipping boxes and ship specimens
- Receive shipments from outside labs
- Store and log received shipments
- Perform inventory
- Wash glassware
- Dispose of specimens
- Perform basic maintenance
- Record data entry via computer systems
- Performs monthly QC report and reviews with Laboratory Director.
- Maintains reagent and consumable inventory.
- Performs lot to lot QC comparison and sets QC ranges.
- Schedules preventative maintenance.
- Monitors that maintenance is performed.
- Reviews SOPs yearly for relevance and documents review.
- Reviews protocol, prepares budget, create sample processing instructions, communicates with lab staff, QC setup, QC data query, creates discrepancy log, addresses testing that is required to be outsourced, gathers all study related documents at the end of the study and prepares them for long term filing.

SKILLS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

- An Associate's degree in Medical Technology is required.
- MUST HAVE A DEGREE IN MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY, CLINICAL LABRORATORY SCIENCES ETC...
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent. MT or MLT (ASCP or equivalent) certification required.
- Minimum of one year of laboratory experience performing clinical chemistry, hematology, immunoassay, coagulation, and urine analyses.
- Two to three years experience preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
