Medical Director

Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association, a biopharmaceutical trade association, seeks a Medical Director to serve as the primary source of medical/clinical expertise in the association. As such, the medical director will provide guidance on a range of issues related to the collection of source plasma with an emphasis on maintaining the health and safety of plasma donors to the use of plasma protein therapies manufactured from plasma and their recombinant analogs. The Medical Director will be able to communicate the clinical/medical implications of plasma donation and the safety and efficacy of plasma protein therapies in the patients served. The Medical Director will provide scientific/medical credibility by writing articles in peer reviewed journals as well as presentations in appropriate conferences. The Medical Director will work with other staff to develop responses to regulatory authorities on donor health and safety and efficacy of plasma protein therapeutics.

Major Tasks:
- Provide clinical/medical guidance on issues relating to donor health and safety and safety and efficacy of plasma protein therapeutics
- Contribute medical/science-based expertise on position papers, recommendations, responses and presentations to various audiences
- Evaluate medical/clinical implications of data related to plasma donor health and safety and safety and efficacy of plasma protein therapeutics
- Participate in Association committees and communicate with client volunteer leadership regarding related clinical issues as directed
- Attend and report on industry meetings regarding clinical aspects of plasma donation, safety and efficacy of plasma protein therapies, or related areas
- Contribute to peer-reviewed journals and association publications as required
- Contribute clinical/scientific expertise to development of voluntary standards related to donor health, product safety as needed
- Provide medical input in various discussions with regard to Health Technology Assessments
- Travel required (20-25%)
