Network Media Planner

My client is a large media company who are looking for a Network Media Planner to undertake research, financial analysis and market analysis. The candidate would need around 2 years experience working in UK Media industry

Department purpose

The Strategy & Research team consists of 13 people based in the company headquarters in Osterley, who provide a competitive advantage to our media teams through industry leading analysis and insight. The department sits within the 'Network Planning' division of operational broadcast departments.

The team's primary role is to provide:

1. Accurate planning and forecasting to enable channels to hit targets
2. Scheduling analysis to maximise audiences for programmes
3. Programme financial analysis to optimise use of channel budgets
4. Reporting of viewing & value to ensure business has early warning of performance issues
5. Programme research to help create/develop content worth paying for
6. Insights on UK viewers & viewing behaviour to inform programming that engages viewers

Job Description

1. To support the Strategy & Research Senior Analyst in producing regular reports, bespoke analysis, and ad hoc commissioned research
2. Respond to ad hoc requests from the channel teams regarding ratings analysis

3. Regular projects/deliverables:
o Produce all daily, weekly and monthly reports timely and accurately
o Assist with the Content Tracker study of channel value
o Assist with the Programme Passion study of programme appreciation

4. Assist with the development of new viewing and value measurements such as the 'Talk Track' total word of mouth communication measurement, and social media monitoring

5. Work closely with the Schedulers to provide:
o Accurate forecasts of programme ratings
o Analysis on optimal slots for launching new series

6. Work closely with the Commissioning and Acquisitions teams to:
o Provide viewer feedback and ratings analysis on programmes
o Provide ratings evaluations of new programmes

7. To work on broader, more strategic channel projects using all resources available to the Strategy report any safety issues to line management; and participate in objectives to be a safe and healthy workplace.

Role Profile

1. Ideally experience and knowledge of:
o Working in media, preferably at a TV broadcaster
o Audience measurement
o Questionnaire writing
o Online research panels

2. Ability to:
o Analyse data and condense findings down to concise conclusions
o Work on multiple parallel running projects
o Work quickly and accurately
o Use Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)

3. Demonstrable passion for and understanding of:
o UK programming
o Entertainment channels

4. An enquiring mind that thrives on new challenges and a dynamic environment
5. Highly numerate with a high level of attention to detail
