Mechanical Test Engineer

Description
The test engineer role is to plan, implement, commission and support in the carrying out the required tests on aircraft fuel system pumps, actuators and hydro-mechanical units. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that engineering test provisioning and maintenance is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Formal Education & Certification
* Relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience.
* Strong engineering background, preferably in a test environment.

Knowledge & Experience
* Ability to apply previous experience in carrying out mechanical testing developed in the aerospace or similar industry.
* A demonstrated ability to manage to completion a variety of tests, including running both hot, cold and ambient tests including electronic and fuel tests to meet qualification and RET requirements.
* A working appreciation of the control and measurement system requirements and capabilities and how these interface with the unit under test.
* Knowledge of data acquisition principles.
* An ability to interpret test results and provided an informed opinion or conclusion as to the outcome of this test. This includes an understanding of measurement uncertainty
* A high level of skill in the use of a range of tools specific to the test environment. For example Dew soft, LabView
* A comprehensive understanding of the HS&E risks associated with Fuel and Mechanical Tests.
* An ability to carry out risk assessments, taking into Health, Safety, environment and collateral risk (unit under test and risk to the facility itself).
* An appreciation of mechanical design material and manufacturing processes.
* A board understanding of business outside immediate department including key commercial drivers.
