Mechanical Structural Engineer

I am looking for a Mechanical Structural Engineer for client based in Dyce.

Duties & Responsibilities

Analysis:
- Complete static Finite Analysis of proposed solutions to review their structural integrity as the projects require
- Complete static Finite Element Analysis of proposed solutions to review their structural integrity as the projects require.
- Formulate and compose FEA reports from associated analysis that will form part of the design packages.
- Complete hand calculations that form part of design packages in such formats as the written word, MS excel & MathCAD, challenging the assumptions, processes and methodology where necessary.
- Complete FMECA's for design solutions as required using recognised industry processes.

Design:
- Develop engineered concepts for approval in 2D & 3D using software packages such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Compose Specifications and Basis of Design documentation for approval to ensure Pre-Engineering factors are confirmed prior to detailing.
- Use knowledge of intervention asset operations to design operational structures and equipment e.g. vessel interface weldments, TRT adaptors.
- Manage the review and approval of design verification documents and structural analysis supplied by 3rd parties.

Support:
- Engineering support for junior team members.
- Provide a knowledge base to help solve mechanical & structural technical queries relating to operational and campaign engineering issues
- Interface and mange 3rd party vendors to provide the required deliverable when external resources are needed.

Experience

- Minimum 5 years' experience in similar position within oil & gas industry.
- An appropriate Engineering Qualification at degree level.
- Mechanical and offshore structures background with experience of structural stress analysis and use of FEA packages.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, MathCAD, AutoCAD, Excel and the MS Office suite of packages.
- Knowledge base in Lifting Appliance codes and their application.
- Familiarity of working in a design capacity with one or more of these standards DNV-OS-C101, DNV CN 2.22, DNV 2.7-1 & DNV 2.7-3; DNV Rules for the Classification of Ships.
- Engineering Institute membership is desirable, either Chartered or working towards becoming Chartered.
