Mechanical Project Engineer

The company design and manufacture sheet metal fabricated products for all industries. The role of Project Engineer is to take the initial customer spec and work with the design department and fabricating companies to find a solution to manufacture. Reviewing drawings, generating BoM's etc

* Responsible for providing fully engineered solutions to Project Managers for all assigned projects
* Check technical proposal to ensure consistency with contract specifications
* Ensure design meets all applicable standards and customer's specification requirements
* Specification and support of drafting and design activities including drawing review / verification
* Specification and creation of data sheets for all purchased components
* Perform project design / status review for each technical area of assigned responsibility
* Provide technical interface for both internal and external customers
* Make best use of pre-engineered components and contribute to standardization initiatives
* Creation of Installation Operation & Maintenance manuals (IOM's)
* Liaison with Design Engineers, Drawing Office, QA, Suppliers & Customers
* Assist in the development and monitoring of project engineering schedule
* Tracking & Prioritizing resolution of project action items and critical technical issues
* Development and management of project technical strategy to mitigate risk, including decisions involving the use of conceptual engineering judgment to allow the design process to proceed without full information
* Management of project technical documentation including internal documents, customer documents and technical correspondence
* Mentoring of sub-contract / junior engineers
* Provide technical leadership
* Challenge / update existing processes and create new processes to improve efficiency

Qualifications/Requirements:

* Mechanical engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
* Team player and self-starter with demonstrated problem solving and organization networking capabilities and the ability to operate without detailed work direction
* Well-established organizational, communication and presentation skills
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects with minimal direction
* Ability to communicate with all internal levels of the business, and all levels of external customers & suppliers
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook)

Desired:

* Green / Black belt certified
* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
* Demonstrated ability to define and implement productivity and cost reduction opportunities in product design
* Sheet metal fabrication knowledge.
* Manufacturing or installation experience
* Experience of fabricated metal structures
* Basic CAD operating skills
