Our client, a leading UK Government Department is seeking a Mechanical Fitter on a contract basis.

This is a contract role paying up to £300 Ltd per day Ltd on a 6 month contract initially

Close Tolerance Assembly in a Machine Build Environment
Read and Interpret Engineering Drawings
Pipe Fitting in Stainless Steel, Copper, Galvanized Steel and Plastic.
Preferably Scientific experience

Key tasks and deliverables:

Essential
Solid Mechanical Engineering background Close tolerance assembly skills in a machine build environment Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, general assembly drawings and geometric tolerances. Able to operate a variety of hand tools References and confirmation of previous experience Working knowledge of all relevant current Health and Safety best practice

Desirable
Time served mechanical apprenticeship City and Guilds, NVQ or BTEC qualifications or equivalent of ONC standard minimum Keep accurate installation log book Ability to work as part of team and/or unsupervised Ability to communicate with project team Current Work at Height, Safe Use of Harness training and MEWP training certificates CSCS Card Pipe fitting skills and experience Working knowledge of GCGA CP4

The following would be advantageous:
Pipe Fitting skills: will participate in installing mechanical services for neutron beamlines. They must have experience of fitting pipe work systems in stainless steel, copper, galvanized steel and plastic to an appropriate standard, eg British Compressed Gas Association Code of Practice CP4

The Installation Mechanical Fitter will participate in the building of neutron beamlines. They will work with Lead Technicians and Fitters installing and building components and sub assemblies from engineering drawings. They must know how to set up and align installation jigs and fixtures to achieve installation tolerances required by components and assemblies. They must also have the necessary skills required to complete agreed modifications to supplied components and jigs
