Mechanical Engoneer, Technician/TSE/Engineer - Engineering

Good Opportunity for a TECHNICAL Support Engineer/OFFICER/Mechanical Engineer/(TSE) - within ENGINEERING, any location/home based with travel.

HNC/HND (GAS, PLANT EQUIPMENT, TECHNICAL HANDS ON EXPERIENCE)

This role will need to be able to travel independently within the UK

ROLE/DESCRIPTION

*Ensuring processes are in place for the Training and succession planning systems and processes
*Developing an effective and efficient training strategy - evaluating the benefits, business needs of in-house and/or external training
*Managing the training requirements
*Maintaining/Developing fit for purpose training courses to address the requirements of the Safety Technical Competency (STC) and Safe Control of Operations (SCO) framework so ensuring a Skilled, Safe and Competent Workforce is available
*Liaising with external training providers to deliver/develop HS&E and Engineering training courses
*The effective planning of the Training calendar to extract the most cost efficient solution conducive with the flexibility/availability of the workforce and the Contracted service delivery is essential to address
*Extracting from the database identified Gap actions reconciling with the annual Training plan
*Formulating a annual training budget
*Working closely with the Apprentice Training providers and management to ensure fit for purpose Apprentice Training modules
*Reconciling accounts submitted by external training providers and authorise for payment
*Carry out Training audits to ensure that the need of the Business and the individual are met with a high standard of delivered Training courses
*Supporting the Technical Support Engineers in the delivery of technical solutions

We can be extremely flexible on base location for this role. One of the existing post-holders is based at Chelmsford Compressor Station, with another based in Sheffield. We can effectively base them at the closest office/substation/compressor station to their home address. NB they will need to travel to Warwick once or twice per week for meetings etc and will probably have to spend the first couple of weeks there whilst getting settled in.

To ensure technical training is developed and delivered to meet the requirements of the business, ensuring that the training processes and systems are in place to monitor personnel competences (in accordance with relevant procedures)

Interviews will take place on either 22nd July or 29th July at any times. These will need to take place in Peterborough (Huntingdon Compressor Station probably) due to the manager's diary over the next few weeks. We would like someone who can start ASAP though will take notice periods of up to 1 month in to account.

The Technical Support Engineer/Officer (TSE) is responsible for reviewing, updating and developing technical training material/courses for use by the technicians working on the various (Gas) plant/equipment on Compressor Stations nationwide. As such they will come from a technical hands-on background. The person who previous held this role had worked as a Technician on-site for years, up to Assistant Engineer before taking this role. They will ideally have a HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline but experience is key for this role so the candidate must come from a National Grid/Oil we welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
