Mechanical Engineering Technician

Yoh has an excellent 12 month contract opportunity for a MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN to join our client located in Schenectady, NY.

Job Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will work with a team of researchers to design, build, and instrument test rigs for new combustion technologies, including gas turbines, jet engines, power plant equipment, locomotives, compressors and motors/generators. He/she will then run the experiments, collect the data, and assist in post-processing and interpreting the data. Procure parts and materials to build prototype mechanical and electrical hardware.
- Assemble complex prototype models for testing in flow rigs.
- Maintain and upgrade large experimental systems that may require high pressures, elevated temperatures, and large flows.
- Operate compressor systems, preheaters, and exhauster/blowers.
- Program and operate data acquisition software including Labview and Labwindows.

Job Qualifications:
- Minimum - Associates degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with at least two (2) years of relevant experience dealing with the responsibilities above.
- A demonstrated record of working from "back of the envelope" designs to build quality hardware.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical design, flow characterization equipment, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and data acquisition systems (Labview).
- Familiarity with machine shop equipment such as mills, grinders, and lathes.
