Mechanical Engineering Manager

Main Duties of the Position

Leading a team of 8, the engineering manager will be providing engineering leadership and drive to improve the Company's technical delivery capability within Mechanical Engineering.

Responsible for the assigning functional resources to identified technical tasks and directing activities within an assigned engineering function whilst tracking and reporting on progress to quality, time, budget.

To participate in applicable project design and review tasks.

To oversee the career and learning development of assigned engineering staff across the company.

This includes maintenance of the engineering career structure, counselling and mentoring process, appraisal and personal training for all engineers.

To establish a centre of excellence for a respective engineering discipline and to enable technical interchange among people of similar technical expertise.

To oversee engineering recruitment and to assist in interviewing and recruiting appropriately skilled people according to skills base requirements.

To ensure that the technical aspects of all customer & development projects are reviewed in accordance with the company's life cycle and systems engineering process.

To actively lead the process of continuous improvement in the company's design and development activities.

To provide technical support to bids, proposals and business strategy.

To operate in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Proactively support company compliance to Health and Safety legislation through adherence to company polices, processes and Practices.

Ensure that all business activity is conducted in line with company values, policies and ethics codes of conduct.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Thorough, proven technical knowledge in Mechanical Engineering.

Experienced Team Manager.

SC clearance.

Solid understanding of engineering and life cycle management processes

Experience of process improvement.

Ability to understand the whole system concept, drill down into the detail when necessary and then assess the status of a project and any actions required.
