Mechanical Engineer - Thermo Mechanical Engineer

Modis are hiring a Thermo Mechanical Engineer looking for a chance to work on leading edge technology within a fast paced and growing organisation based in Southampton. Following a recent injection of capital and new development projects in the pipeline, this is a great time to become part of a team in one of the more interesting engineering companies on the south coast.

The Thermo Mechanical Engineer will have responsibility for the success of the development projects from an analytical point of view for the company's product range and will be working as a key member of the mechanical engineering team. The successful candidate will be supporting new product developments by being focused on all Thermo Mechanical aspects on new machinery for the high speed turbo-generator by creating and delivering thermal modelling analysis.

It is therefore essential that candidate have the following skills and experience;

* Extensive experience in thermal management techniques including lubricating and cooling systems and fluid selection is essential.
* Advanced knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, high temperature components is essential.
* Previous experience working on heat management of static components is essential, with rotatives desirable.
* B Eng (Hons) 2:1 minimum in mechanical, automotive, aerospace or power engineering is essential
* 2 or more years of relevant mechanical engineering experience is essential. Experience with turbines, generators or turbo-machinery is desirable.
* Responsible for the mechanical design and definition of cooling flows, heat rejection and thermal prediction through the operating envelope of the turbo generator.
* The ability to work in a fluid organisation
* Ability to summarise, present and communicate analytical results to all levels of the engineering organisation and suppliers
* Be able to work as part of a team as well as independently and to challenge your own work.

£30-45 per hour based on experience. Hours of work are Mon to Thurs 8.30-17.00 and finish 13.30 on Fridays.
