Mechanical Engineer (Sensors) Job

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER (SENSORS) needed for a one year CONTRACT opportunity that has a possibility of going permanent with Yoh's client located in Auburn Hills, MI.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Will be responsible for development of various wheel speed sensors, engine sensors, transmission sensors, cables, etc. starting from quote phase to the high volume production according to the customer requirement and with minimal supervision.
- Follow company's standard and procedures and change management process in product development.
- Apply specialized mechanical knowledge to provide engineering and technical solutions for new business opportunities.
- Must have the ability to influence team direction with technical leadership.
- Meet the timing and other requirements from the project manager and customer such as functional requirements, timing, cost, CAD data and drawing releases, change management and specific tasks required for various phases of the project.
- Follow the latest, released, product development process and meet all defined requirements for the design phases of the product by required dates.
- Conduct DFMEA, root cause analysis, write 8Ds and define corrective actions.
- Work closely with Industrial Engineering to establish requirements for manufacturing processes, tooling early in development and ensure that the design requirements are met in manufacturing, ensure that testing is adequate to cover and ensure critical mechanical functions Support global projects from Japan, Korea, or China
- Engage in innovation in sensor development Engage in cost savings activities, continuous improvement and process development Mentor junior engineers Support R&D department activities

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- BS in Mechanical Engineer REQUIRED- prefer advanced degree
- Three to eight (3-8) years of experience in concept, design and release of various electronics products, preferably sensors.
- Will look at Mechanical Engineers with five (5) years product engineer experience in power train or chassis.
- CATIA V5 3D modelling and detail drawing experience
- Experience with engineering mechanical products (components and assemblies), including mechanical-electrical interface designs, DFMEAs, tolerance analysis and FEA interpretation/understanding.
- Thorough knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and application in product design.
- Developing structural, insert molded plastic parts and assemblies with packaged electronics, housings with molded in connector designs.
- Manufacturing process experience with injection molding, extrusion, plastics, disposables and fabrication.
- Experience with following defined procedures for product development and meeting defined design requirements by design review process.
- Able to work in cross cultural and cross functional global teams.
- Experience interfacing with suppliers, specifying and managing requirements and suppliers deliverables in design and up to PPAP Customer interface experience TCE, TCAE experience preferred
- 5-10% travel possible to Silao, Mexico
