Mechanical Engineer/R&D

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to work in my clients Research and Development team, helping to deliver the next generation of instruments and services.

The role will require the individual to design, prototype and help deploy precision electro-mechanical and hydraulic instruments according to customers' specifications. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the design and production of parts/instruments, from submission of technical drawings to manufacturing.

Essential Qualifications/Requirements

* Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
* Demonstrable experience in 3D cad software (SolidWorks)
* Capable of producing and following project / product documentation
* Hands on, practical ability to complement academic skills
* Scientific or engineering background

Advantageous Experience

* Previous experience in developing electro-mechanical instrumentation
* Finite element analysis for stress/deformation

The position is for an initial contract period of at least 6 months - there is the opportunity of permanent employment after this if the contract goes well.

Rate is competative for the location (North East).
