Mechanical Engineer/Product Development Job

MECHANICAL ENGINEER/PRODUCT DEVELPMENT needed for a one year CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in LAKE FOREST, CA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- The design engineer will provide product development engineering support using Pro-Engineer to capture complex design intent and related processes.
- Design complex subsystems and precision machine components that meet requirements using engineering design principles.
- Will also provide design concepts through proto-typing and production release. Designs will incorporate Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA).
- This individual will interface directly with R&D, Manufacturing and external vendors to resolve design and fabrication issues.
- Design based on a wide range of technical depth and innovative ideas. Solve issues associated with the natural path of product development with creativity and smart designs
- Develop conceptual layouts to capture product specification and function of assembly/component interface, size, location, and placement.
- Create complex 3D models, large assembly, fabrication drawings utilizing Pro-EngineerDesign fixtures to mount assortment of assemblies to verify alignment and functionality.; Design precision machine parts, cams & gears, mechanism, and kinematic mechanism designs. Design parts/assembly/fixtures from scratch or sketches and with minimal instructions/directions.
- Specify material/finish and selection of OEM components (hardware, fasteners, pins, fitting, etc.)
- Generate detailed fabrication drawings per Global DRM and ASME Y-14M with familiarity of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Perform complex interference fit checks, motion studies, and tolerance stack-up analysis on large assemblies. Utilize Windchill to configure and manage Pro-E CAD data
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure project completion

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- BS ME with 7 years of experience in Product development/machine/mechanical design.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Pro-E/Creo, including knowledge of Large Assy. Management.
- Proficient in Top Down Design (TDD) methodologies and applications of model-centric designs Working knowledge in kinematic mechanism design (eg Pro-Mechanism/Mechanica) Knowledge in low and high volume manufacturing processes including Sheetmetal, extrusion (metal and polymer), welding, machining, castings, forgings and injection molding.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under fast paced development life cycles.
