Mechanical Engineer

I am looking to hire a MECHANICAL ENGINEER for one of my Public Sector Client. Please read the below job Specification

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

- Must have knowledge of particle Accelerator systems.
- Hiring Manager has advised that if candidates do not have Pro E or Creo 2.0 Cad package they will not be able to carry out the role.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

- Extensive experience of Pro/E or Creo CAD package.
- Experience in vacuum technology.
- Extensive experience of mechanical joining and manufacturing techniques.
- HNC in mechanical engineering or equivalent

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

- Experience working on particle accelerator systems
- Experience working on low particulate systems
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Chartered status

KEY TASKS AND DELIVERABLES

- A vacancy exists for a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer to work at STFC at Daresbury Laboratory, Cheshire.
- The post holder will be responsible for delivering innovative engineering design solutions on a number of interesting and complex engineering challenges on collaborative science projects.
- Involving the design, and construction, of scientific R&D facilities located at Daresbury Laboratory and a variety of international science facilities.
- Wide ranging engineering experience and ability is required to deliver a variety of interesting and complex engineering challenges on a range of collaborative projects for international science programmes.
- Working closely with a multi-disciplined team, the post holder will be responsible for:
- Design and optimisation of mechanical components
- Designing cost-effective solutions to help improve safety and reliability
- Producing manufacturing drawings in accordance with the Projects and Mechanical Engineering group standards
- Interfaces with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly
- Performing design calculations on engineering problems
- Working within BS EN ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System
- The post holder should be experienced in design and manufacture of vacuum systems down to UHV levels.
- Experience designing accelerator systems which require high levels of stability and highly tolerance components is desirable.
- Experience with designing vacuum systems with emphasis on reducing particulate counts would be beneficial.
