Mechanical Engineer
Position Description:
Design and release engineer within Powertrain Cooling.
The Cooling Systems team is based primarily at Gaydon and is part of the Power Train Systems Engineering group within Powertrain Engineering.
The primary purpose of the group is to design Cooling Systems

Skills Required:

Responsible for the delivery of Heat Exchangers and Charge Air Coolers
Liaise with vehicle programme teams to agree system targets (quality, function, cost, weight) and define system content.
Work with Suppliers and CAD team to manage delivery of Heat Exchangers on time, to agreed targets and within budget (Piece, Tooling and D&D).
Lead the quality planning activities including component FMEA and Design Rules and Standards, visit supplier sites as required.
Ensure compliance with all Product Creation System timing (PCS)
Support Module Business Team Technical Meetings to resolve issues in the delivery of Heat Exchangers
Manage the resolution of technical issues through the AIMs system.
Lead the Validation Plan and ensure it meets appropriate programme gateways and monitor progress against the plan.
Work with Advance Product Creation team, Vehicle Packaging and Technical Specialist to develop feasible design assumptions for future Heat Exchangers

Skills Preferred:

Powertrain experience of pressure charged engine systems would be advantageous.
Knowledge of PTSE Component/System design (ideally of heat exchangers and or plastics.)
Experience and working knowledge of FMA processes.

Experience Required:

Sound understanding of the Design and Development Process, this key role will call upon a good engineering knowledge to include design for assembly, fit and function and a good understanding of GD&T.
Working knowledge of automotive design and release - ideally PCS.
Able to demonstrate ability to plan and deliver components or systems from concept to production.
Current Driving Licence.

Experience Preferred:

Powertrain experience of pressure charged engine systems.
CFD experience.
Knowledge of PTSE Component/System design including plastics.
Development experience and/or awareness.
Experience and working knowledge of FMA processes.

Education Required:

Engineering Degree - BEng Hons or similar.
