Mechanical Engineer

Yoh has a one year contract position for a MECHANICAL ENGINEER in Grand Rapids, MI.

CLIENT OVERVIEW:

Our client global technology leader in electrical components and systems for power quality, distribution and control; hydraulics components, systems and services for industrial and mobile equipment; aerospace fuel, hydraulics and pneumatic systems for commercial and military use; and truck and automotive drive train and power train systems for performance, fuel economy and safety.

Job Responsibilities:

- Analyze and implement design corrective actions for field issues found on existing products
- Mechanical layout (modifications of existing actuators and power drive units) with proficiency in ProE (Wildfire 3), 3D and 2D
- Failure analysis and problem solving
- Project Engineering experience

Job Qualifications:

- BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Knowledge of components such as gears, ballscrews, no-back mechanisms, clutches, brakes, motors (mechanical aspects), housings, electronic enclosures, seals, bearings, pins, and screws
- Experience with failure analysis and problem solving (analysing field return units to complete root cause corrective action and/or 8D analysis)
- Mechanical layout (modifications of existing actuators and power drive units) with proficiency in ProE (Wildfire 3), 3D and 2D
- Experience with drawing creation, drawing reading, and tolerance stack-up analysis (including thermal effects)
- Stress analysis and mechanical Excel calculations (hand calcs, FEA not required)
- Capable to create test plan, test design solutions, collect test data, and evaluate results (in a test lab and shop floor environment)
- Technical report writing (analysis, design, test results etc.)
- Experience with doing product design changes and design qualification in a production environment
- Design for Six Sigma methodology would be an advantage (especially DFMEA, DOE)
- ProE (3D/2D) - Wildfire 3 experience required, Catia V5 experience desired (not mandatory)
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) experience required
- Matlab experience desired (not mandatory but would be an advantage)
