Mechanical Engineer South East Circa £35-40,000 Positioned within the Projects Department of an International Engineering company this is a new vacancy due to ongoing growth and will be a key position at the forefront of the team. The purpose of your role will be to act as the key mechanical engineering function in order to support product design, development, validation, and introduction. Responsibilities will include: - Developing the product range to further meet the customer's requirements. This will include: a) Working to a Product Roadmap including standardisation of special project designs so that they can be incorporated as options into the standard product range b) First principle analysis of performance to define performance limits c) Develop product management data to support standard design d) To incorporate improvements from all areas of the business including engineering, operations, service, quality and from customers e) Ensuring compliance with legal and commercial requirements f) Lead any pre-production release validation trials / testing g) Produce the technical file to support design introduction including training tools h) Working with the design engineers to identify and standardise the detail design requirements i) Working with the Operations Engineering Team to release product into standard product range - Provide mechanical expertise to Project team members to define best practice mechanical calculation methods, provide training in FE analysis, and to support more in depth analysis of product design. - Provide mechanical expertise input into the development of technical product training tools such as design evaluation tools, service / manufacturing instructions. Support the development and maintenance of an infrastructure / library of standards and guides. - To balance priorities whilst working on multiple projects in order to achieve the agreed timescales, communicating progress at regular intervals to all levels within the business. - To continually be at the forefront of new technical requirements and orders through to customer acceptance so as to capture potential improvements. To fulfil this position then you will require the following skills: - Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Degree - Knowledge of regulatory compliance (CE) marking requirements and associated regulations. - Knowledge of ISO 9000 with experience of implementing and developing quality procedures, knowledge of 14001 and 18001 preferred. - Previous Design for Manufacture experience. - Good understanding of mechanical first principles.
