Mechanical Engineer

Electrical power generation client is currently seeking a Mechanical Planner (A) and a Mechanical Engineer (B) to help develop modifications that support McGuire Nuclear Station's compliance with NRC Order EA-12-051, Reliable Spent Fuel Pool Instrumentation and NRC Order EA-12-049, Modifying Licenses with Regard to Requirements for Mitigation Strategies for Beyond-Design-Basis External Events in Huntersville, NC. These are 1 year CONTRACT positions, with the possibility of extension. Local candidates preferred but per diem will be available for qualified candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- (A) - Develop pipe routing diagrams, bills of materials, purchase requisitions, equipment database changes and work order planning needed to support the modifications
- (B) - Develop fluid distribution and setpoint & instrument uncertainty calculations, specify and select pumps and valves, generate P&ID and piping diagrams and equipment databases, and develop pipe routing schemes with the assistance of designers

REQUIREMENTS

- (A) - Substantial design and work order planning experience in the commercial nuclear power industry
- (B) - Substantial design or system engineering experience in the commercial nuclear power industry working with primary and secondary safety related systems
- (B) - General familiarity with commercial nuclear power systems and components
- (B) - Familiarity with the design basis requirements of a commercial nuclear power plant including general design criteria, regulatory guides and industry standards applicable to mechanical systems and components
- (B) - Prior Appendix R or NFPA-805 experience and former STA, SRO or Westinghouse NSSS Engineer experience desired
