Mechanical Engineer

Global leader in the healthcare/medical product manufacturing industry is looking for a Prinicpal Engineer in Waukegan IL. Contract position expected to last 12 months, possible temp to hire. This position is responsible for the design and development of the disposable devices in dialysis systems. We are looking for a candidate that can lead mechanical engineering projects and serve as a technical expert while interfacing with suppliers. Currently we are only looking for local candidates. RESPONSIBILITIES

- Interface with suppliers to align on realistic product requirements, specifications, in-process controls and collaborating as needed to ensure supplier compliance
- Develop protocols and reports for technical studies, verification testing and coordinating with Manufacturing for device builds
- Plan, host and track impromptu cross-functional meetings (Conference Call/WebEx) as needed to facilitate project issue resolution or technical problem solving
- Writing, reviewing, obtaining approvals and releasing controlled documents for filing in a DHF

REQUIREMENTS

- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
- 5-10 years of mechanical engineering experience in medical device design and development, preferably disposables
- Must have experience in one or more mechanical engineering tools, i.e. Abaqus, FLUENT, Matlab, Labview, Minitab, Goldfire Innovator, or Pro-Engineer
- Must have working knowledge of Quality System Regulations (QSR), Design For Six Sigma methodologies (DFSS), and Design of Experiment (DOE)
- Electromechanical device and systems engineering experience high desirable
