Mechanical Engineer

An engineering and construction client has an immediate need for 4 Area Construction (Mechanical) Engineers / Specialists, in the Aiken, SC area, to perform all aspects of mechanical / piping field engineering assignments including development of plans, schedules, contracts, procedures, and construction methods and systems for an assigned project, or a designated area of a large DOE / NQA1 construction project. These are 4 to 6 month CONTRACT assignments, with the possibility of extension. Local candidates are preferred but per diem is available for qualified candidates. Must be available to work overtime and nightshift, a nontraditional work schedule can be expected.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform difficult and very complex field engineering assignments involving the development, execution, supervision, and coordination of all technical aspects of a construction project
- Maintain first-level quality assurance to confirm that the installation of all work within his / her discipline is in accordance with the plans, specifications, and industry standards
- Supervise Construction Inspectors, ensuring that tests and inspections are performed, witnessed, and documented in accordance with approved procedures
- Develop and maintain detailed Work Packages associated with piping / piping supports and mechanical equipment

REQUIREMENTS

- 4 year degree in Engineering or Construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience, as well as 8 to 12 years of experience in field construction is required
- Experience at Savannah River Site / DOE on a large NQA1 / nuclear construction project in the construction of large civil / structural and industrial projects at domestic and foreign locations is preferred
- Experience at developing work packages on a large NQA1 / DOE construction project
- Experience with mechanical systems relating to pumps / pump motors, valves, various instrumentation, vessels, boilers, steam systems, pipe support / pipe support attachment to structural steel
- Hydro testing, testing and startup experience
- Experience in an operating facility
