Mechanical Drafter and Designer Job

MECHANICAL DAFTER AND DESIGNER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- Bill of Materials
- Developing, enhancing, or troubleshooting minor software applications relating to dynamic engineering BOM's or parametric CAD models
- Pro-E or similar CAD package

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Produces designs and documentation utilizing computer design and product life cycle management systems.
- Documentation of parts and bills of materials.
- Understands and adheres to design and drafting standard practices.
- Assist engineering in the supervision and construction of project prototypes and respective paperwork and testing coordination.
- Works from oral or written engineering instructions, procedures, schematics, drawings and sketches.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Two (2) year Associate Degree in mechanical or electrical design from an accredited technical school.
- Minimum of three (3) years of practical experience in a design and/or manufacturing role preferred or will consider strong candidates with experience working in and leading projects as part of college course curriculum.
- Understands basic principles of designing equipment, drafting, and CAD and able to apply those principles to assigned design tasks.
- Ability to use power tools to assemble prototypes and/or monitor the construction of prototype coils.
- Hands-on experience using Pro-E or similar CAD package.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required, including experience using Excel formulas to analyze data, prioritize lists, and developing solutions for everyday Design barriers.
- Work with small teams to determine solution approaches to Design problems and then work independently to drive solutions into the engineering CAD and Bill of Material (BOM) systems.
- Ability to follow standard New Product Development process for creating drawings, BOMs, System Data, and Communications with other internal and external partners.

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Designers with experience in developing, enhancing, or troubleshooting minor software applications relating to dynamic engineering BOM's or parametric CAD models are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Ideal candidate will have a high affinity toward the programming and logic aspects of CAD software; for example parametric part design, LISP routines, BOM creation, MS Excel macro and VBA code editing, etc. Able to work from a problem statement and utilize CAD, Excel, and other available engineering tools to find the optimized best solution for the business.
- Experience with engineering BOMs and systems that generate dynamic BOMs based on order selections. Ability to understand basic Coil Theory and purpose for components.
