Mechanical Designer Job

MECHANICAL DESIGNER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in SALEM, VA.

Top Skills You Should Possess:
- Associates in Mechanical Engineering field.
- SolidWorks experience.
- 3D Cad experience.

What You'll Be Doing:
- The Mechanical Designer will be involved with project design, document correction and control, modelling, equipment testing, assembly and machinist operations.
- Maintain a safe working environment and a commitment to safety excellence.
- Use Solid Works and other software to support R & D projects by designing and building test fixtures, assembly of fixtures, prototypes and components.
- Identify and purchase raw and finished material for these projects.
- Identify components that will be manufactured by outside suppliers and secure these components.
- Support the R & D Machine Shop in the fabrication of parts including machining, welding and fabrication.
- Design equipment modifications as requested by the R & D Engineering Staff.
- Possess practical and intuitive understanding of mechanical design issues.
- Make corrections to existing drawings as assigned.
- Works independently on the development of original designs.
- Prepares sketches or complete detail and layout drawings from instructions or specifications.

What You Need to Bring to the Table:
- Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Machine Technology or similar discipline at a minimum.
- Five (5) years of relevant design experience.
- Create and modify models and detailed drawings.
- Create and provide detail assembly drawings.
- Fluent with 3D modelling and SolidWorks.
- 3D CAD skills (3 years Minimum).
- Experience as a tolerance analysis.
- Ability to machine fixtures and small modelling parts.
