Mechanical Designer Job

MECHANICAL DESIGNER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Reading, PA.

- Design experience

- Project Management

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Performs advanced engineering design computations and reviews results with internal and external customers
- Applies working knowledge of materials and components
- Prepares conceptual design layouts
- Designs equipment and systems for reliability and ease of maintenance
- Prepares purchase requisitions and performs goods receipt (SAP)
- Prepares drawing packages to support engineering specifications
- Recommends best value fabricators
- Ensures adherence to applicable codes and standards within discipline
- Participates in pre-appropriation meetings to determine project requirements
- Translates design requirements into specific design configurations
- Participates in the development of engineering design and process standards
- Ensures designs are properly recorded and archived
- Approves engineering drawings and documentation for fabrication and installation issuance
- Adheres to production policies and practices
- Facilitates conducting equipment and customer acceptance tests
- Ensures implementation of safety principles
- Diagnoses operating problems and resolves process and equipment issues
- Provides equipment and process problem solving support
- Participating in Lean efforts such as kaizen events

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Associate's degree in Mechanical Design or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of Three (3) - Five (5) years design experience in a manufacturing environment
- Project management skills, including the ability to define problems, lead teams, prioritize tasks, and deliver results
- AutoCAD experience
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Previous experience with the application of Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing methodologies, Statistical Process Control and Team Facilitation
- 3D CAD experience, preferably AutoDesk Inventor
- Experience with Microsoft Project
