Mechanical Design/Test Engineer

Yoh has an excellent 12 month contract opportunity for a MECHANICAL DESIGN/TEST ENGINEER at our client's location in Grand Rapids, MI.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for some system engineering analysis. Completes analysis on components through the use of Ansys, Mat lab, or MathCAD, or Excel calculations.
- Works with Supply Chain team members, holds engineering discussions with component suppliers, and writes component specifications.
- Plans test and qualification activities for development projects and participates in qualification activities.
- Participates in preparation of general test procedures and specification in conjunction with engineering assignments.
- Advises laboratory personnel on test requirements and procedures. Assists in the evaluation of test results with the Lead Mechanical Engineer.
- May provide formal and informal updates to Engineering Manager and Program Manager.
- Participates in the preparation for design review material and is the lead presenter or supports the Lead Engineer during design reviews.
- Expected to have border line knowledge of adjacent engineering fields (motors, electro-mechanical, electronics, software, etc.).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. degree in mechanical engineering or related science such as physics and three (3) or more years of experience in at least four (4) of the following areas is REQUIRED!
- Mechanical Engineering design and development.
- Product verification, qualification, and certification.
- Commercial Aerospace certification requirements.
- Project leadership.
- Project Management.
- Gear design.
- Mechanical components selection and design (no-backs, springs, bearings, rod ends, Switches, torque limiters, clutches, etc.).
- Stress analysis.
- Mechanism design and MATLAB modelling.
- ProE or other similar 3D development tools.
- Tolerance Stack-ups.
