Mechanical Design Engineer (Experienced/Senior)

Our client boasts a wealth of knowledge in working within the secure communications domain within the defence industry. Having to remain reasonably secretive as to the nature of the project, it is the hope that interested applicants read a little further through the details of what will be required of the successful recruit in the knowledge that they can rest assured that it is a rare and exciting opportunity they will be applying for. Situated in the South East of England, the successful applicant will be in close proximity to our nations capital being involved in a project that contributes to the security of our country. Having an absolute minimum of three to five years experience in the above fields domains and sectors is the basic requirement for being considered for this exciting opportunity.

Reporting directly to the Mechanical Team Leader the successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design and the development of designs from concept through to Production. Having experience of working in Mechanical Design to MIL-SPEC and DEF-STAN standards as well as being familiar with CAD design tools, namely ProEngineer, Solidworks or Inventor, to name a few. You must have a proven record of working closely with Electronic Design and Production teams in an environment of developing complex electronic products across the full development life cycle of said products. It is therefore important that you be aware of what it means to work to MIL-STD 1521B with regards to development process and milestone review.

* Experience of design to meet harsh environmental conditions
* Experience of design to meet EMC & TEMPEST requirements
* Background in FEA and thermal simulation
* Competent in creating drawings to BS8888 standard
* Ability to perform tolerance analysis of close tolerance, complex assemblies
* Experience of optimising design of parts based on various manufacturing technologies: Machined
from solid, injection moulding, extrusion, sheet metal and casting.
* Knowledge of engineering materials and finishes.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook

Interviewees will be required to have completed a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and to be security 'clearable' to SC level. This will generally involve having lived in the UK for five years or more, having been cleared to this level previously or, more obviously, having an existing clearance in place.
