Mechanical Design Engineer

Eden Brown are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer on a contract basis to join a busy building services team based in Leeds. The work is mainly commercial but could lead to a longer contract should further work come in.

Job Overview:
To undertake and supervise mechanical services design elements for both small and major projects.
Lead the mechanical or the MEP design on the project, including technical and commercial management.
If appropriate take on the multidisciplinary project management role on smaller to medium sized projects.
Work closely with electrical and PH designers and other design team members.
Consultancy advice and preparation of specifications and drawings for:
- HVAC systems
- Domestic hot and cold water systems
- Low carbon and low energy systems including site-wide energy systems

Attend meetings and communicate with clients and project team members to establish their needs
Attend client and project team negotiations and interactions leading to the successful development of design solutions to meet client expectations
Ensure the production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budget
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team
Carry out, and supervise others carrying out, thermal analysis, energy calculations, compliance analysis
Participate in relevant skills network

Role:

Would work within the Building Engineering team and within a multi-disciplinary environment. Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and ultimately to the MEP leadership team and the group leader.
Responsible for output of graduate engineers and technicians.
Would be expected to develop project and team leadership skills and aiming to progress to associate level.

Requirements: Competent designer with experience in the mechanical service design of a range of projects.
Understand the principles of electrical services and public health systems in order to communicate them at external meetings
Degree Qualified with Masters Engineering Degree or equivalent.
Chartered status through IMechE or CIBSE.
Competent design software and IT skills.
CAD and Revit MEP management skills would be beneficial.
Ability to think outside the specialism and integrate multi-disciplinary requirements into holistic coordinated solutions
Good planning and organisational and time management skills
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
