Mechanical Design Engineer
(3 month contract minimum)
22 - 24 per hour

This business design and manufacture special purpose machinery for the food industry. They supply to a number of large food OEMs such as Premier Foods, Pepsico sand Tulip. Having recently won a number of large projects they are now looking to recruit a contract mechanical design engineer to join their team.

The role will involve:
- Meeting with a client to understand and agree a specification
- Designing of brackets, conveyers and layouts
- Designing a machine from scratch to include mechanisms, assemblies, components and fabrications
- Basic calculations such as geometric tolerances and non-load bearing calcs
- Whilst some layout work is done in AutoCAD, most 3D work is done in Solidworks
- Creating BOMs, part lists and manufacturing drawings
- Liaising with the shop floor as a technical point of contact should they have any issues during machine build

The required skills:
- Solidworks design experience
- Experience designing machinery such as mechanisms, assemblies, components etc.
- A solid understanding of how something is assembled
- Strong communicator with experience dealing with clients
