Mechanical Design Engineer

The role is to assist in the mechanical design and production of component and assembly drawings that are to BS drawing standards, applying appropriate geometrical tolerances and material specifications as necessary. You may also be required to liaise with 3rd party suppliers to ensure that the designed parts can be manufactured.

To succeed in this role you must have:

Degree/H.N.C. or equivalent qualified in a mechanical design discipline, or significant experience of professional engineering work

Proficient use of Autodesk Inventor to produce designs/drawings to fit within an existing departmental drawing architecture.

Application of mechanical design/drafting skills and knowledge

Highly competent in technical draughting and geometrical tolerancing

Knowledge in applying relevant BS8888 standards

Familiarity with large complex vacuum systems, piping, layouts with Autocad

Knowledge of materials, finishes and processing

Knowledge of Engineering Change Request process

Familiarity with SAP PDM system
