Mechanical Design Engineer

One of my key clients based in the Surrey area is currently looking for a high calibre contract Mechanical Design Engineer to work on a 6-9 month term with the possibility of going perm if you wanted to. My client are a market leading Subsea company that specialise in offshore instrumention that is used all over the world. As an evergrowing establishment they are consistently looking to improve the size of there high quality design team to compansate for the increase in workflow and projects. My clients rapidly growing activity continues and as a result personnel, facilities and organizational structure are all evolving rapidly. On the personnel front the number of their employees has grown from 17 to 57 since 2010, with offices now in Surrey, Aberdeen, Houston, Rio and, most recently, Singapore. The manufacturing facility in the UK has recently expanded from 3,250 to 7,973 sq ft with newly refurbished R&D and production facilities. This development will further strengthen Pulse's R&D strategy, ensuring they maintain their position as a technological leader in providing offshore services. The role will require the candidate to be part of a design team involved in cutting edge mechanical design for critical offshore instrumentation. We are looking for a team player with an eye for detail and a desire to progress within the company. The role will also involve full product lifecycle development and liaising with customers and suppliers. Gaining quotes for manufacture and providing a product cost. Job Requirements: * Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or related Engineering discipline * Having a recognised apprenticeship would be an advantage * Be able to do simple calculations * A competent Solidworks user in designing machined parts and fabrication * Competent in 2D draughting. * Competent in GD&T * Innovative thought and problem solving. * Conceptual design. * A good understanding of design to cost and design to manufacture * Solidwork's Simulation experience beneficial * Willing to go offshore when required Hours - 40 a week with potential of overtime.
