Mechanical Design Engineer

The Background
Due to winning a substantial number of orders with high profile clients, a leading edge company are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join and support the existing design team on a number of important projects which have landed heading into 2013.

The Role
Reporting into the Design Manager, the role of Mechanical Design Engineer involves Mechanical design of both existing and new products. Working closely with other highly skilled professional individuals from various disciplines across the business, this role will play a key part in leading innovation, improving quality, reducing cost and expanding the product portfolio. The role of Mechanical Design Engineer will involve all aspects of design from concept to pre-production, plus design and upgrading existing design to improve product performance.

Experience
The successful candidate will have a good mechanical background and should have experience from any of the following -
* Fabrication
* Mechanical handling
* Special purpose machinery experience
* AutoCAD 2D, Solidworks (other design packages may be considered)
* Conveyor systems experience
* Strong design and draughting contract background
* Strong Mechanical design background

A track record of successfully working within design to order/special purpose machinery type manufacturing businesses would be advantageous for this role. An innovative approach, analytical/problem solving skills and the ability to work successfully across an operation with several departments are pre-requisites for this challenging role.
