Mechanical Design Engineer

We are currently looking for experienced Mechanical Design Engineers to join a major consultancy client, within their Rail building services division.

Our client is one of the world's leading rail engineers. Its rail business is the largest in its field in Europe.

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Building Services designer to support the team in Birmingham for the mechanical design and supporting the multi-discipline Engineering Team.

The mechanical designs will cover a variety of areas including the following: Station Ventilation, Comfort Cooling, Heating, Building Management Systems and Smoke Ventilation.

A working knowledge of CDM requirements, System Integration Principles and carbon critical design is essential.

Responsibilities
- Undertake mechanical design to Network Rail, British / European and The clients Rail standards
- Undertake site visits / non-intrusive surveys as required as part of the design activities or as part of support to installation
- To check mechanical designs prepared within own team and other groups within area of expertise

Requirements
- Member IET or CIBSE with CEng / IEng status or working towards would be preferred
- Relevant and appropriate experience as a mechanical designer within a building services or Rail environment
- You will be a competent designer to CIBSE standards
- You will have experience of computer based design tools such as Hevacomp and IES
- The successful applicant will be a competent user of IT tools in particular Word, Excel and Outlook
- Good command of the English Language and an effective communicator both written and oral.

3-6 month initial contract
