Outsource UK Ltd are actively seeking to recruit a Materials Engineer for a contract role on behalf of a client.

The Client:
A leading Engineering and Defence organisation

The Job:
Our client is seeking to recruit a Materials scientist/Engineer to enhance its multidisciplinary team. The role includes the provision of rapid technical troubleshooting services related to components, production and processes, and green issues, across a broad range of industrial operations including avionics, sensors, shipbuilding, aircraft manufacture, sonar systems, radar and energetic materials. The rapid resolution of technical issues in the product assurance reassurance centre is paramount in ensuring high performance, quality, value and competitiveness throughout the company.

Key Responsibility Areas
The successful Materials Engineer candidate will be responsible for the following:
Provides rapid troubleshooting service relating to components, production and processes
Ensures high performance, quality, value and competitiveness throughout the company
Uses test and analytical equipment to ensure problems are solved in a timely fashion
Preparation of technical reports, test procedures, process specifications and other product documentation
Liaison with both internal and external customers, including travel and visits to Business Units as part of the rapid troubleshooting service

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge
Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline with some proven experience in a materials related role
Practical laboratory experience in measurement and test
A proven track record in a production or quality environment is preferable
Extensive knowledge of materials properties, selection, processing and testing, ideally encompassing metals, polymers, ceramics and composites, adhesives and surface finishes and coatings
Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to use Microsoft office, particularly a good working knowledge of Word and Excel
Is able to work independently without close supervision
Membership of a recognised technical institute would be advantageous
