Material Transfer Specialist - Legal Job

MATERIAL TRANSFER SPECIALIST (LEGAL) needed for a ONE (1) YEAR CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Cambridge, MA.

THE BIG PICTURE:

The Specialist is a member of the Material Transfer Management (MTM) team, whose collective responsibilities include management of the review of external requests for the company's materials, and the implementation of the material transfer agreements (legal documents) necessary to govern the transfer.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Interface through the review and contracting process with external scientists from academic centers and institutions around the world who are interested in receiving Novartis materials
- Manage reviews of such requests through the coordination of internal stakeholders in the Legal, Patents, Science functions globally within company's research and development Divisions
- Provide appropriate draft material transfer agreement (MTA) to external organizations. Manage internal and external discussions and negotiations to arrive at mutually acceptable MTA terms, including managing the review of edits proposed by the external party with Patents professionals within Novartis' research and development Divisions
- Manage obtaining final approvals and physical signatures on MTAs. Interface with company laboratories and shipping desks to facilitate the physical transfer of materials to the partner
- Accurately record and update information in the appropriate databases

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- BS DEGREE
- The successful candidate will have experience in academic technology transfer or the pharmaceutical/biotech arena.
- The successful candidate will have some experience in reviewing and drafting simple legal contracts and an awareness of the associated legal issues (eg data use/ownership, intellectual property rights, etc.) is preferred.
- The successful candidate will have experience in high volume activities in large, complex Matrix organizations.
- Excellence in interaction with third parties, ie Academia, Scientific Institutions, and Technology Transfer Departments is preferred.
- Excellence in execution of operational processes, as well as individual/team workload prioritization and time management are required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English are required. Additional foreign language skills (eg, German, French) are a plus.
- Advanced computer and database skills are required.
- A familiarity with the drug development process is a plus
- Background in business administration, legal or a scientific discipline is preferred.
