Primary Purpose of Job:

Due to an increased workload our Land Air Systems division needs a Manufacturing Test Technician to work on Armored Vehicle and Tank projects. The Manufacturing Test Technician will be responsible for the assembly and test of products and systems to defined standards/methods, to support timely delivery of customer requirements for prime and repair equipment.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

Assembly of modules, equipments and systems, to required company standards.
Strip and build of small mechanisms with mechanical, optical and electrical content.
Soldering capability (accreditation to IPC or equivalent).
Test of products to defined methods/documentation.
Use of measuring and alignment equipment.
Assessment of repair needs and diagnostic activities.
Safe handling of complex equipment (including optics and special finishes).
Identification of improvement opportunities and assist team to achieve defined targets.
Experience of Electronic Assembly, Test, troubleshoot, faultfinding & diagnostic to component level is essential.

Key Technical Competencies:

Knowledge of similar equipment and methods.
Demonstrated skills in build and test of relevant complexity products.
Ability to understand product documentation (eg drawings/build instructions/test procedures).
PC skills (input to MRP system, time booking, test documentation etc)

Key Behavioural Competencies:

Ability to operate in a methodical and disciplined manner to company standards, processes and procedures.
Capable of working as part of a team to meet shared quality and output objectives.
Willing to support or lead improvements tasks and projects

Experience and Qualifications:

Assembly and Test knowledge of Electo-Optical or Servo systems is required
Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) apprenticeship.

This role requires enhanced security clearance to secret (SC) level. Candidates will be required to meet the criteria and seek Defence Vetting Agency clearance, which will be sponsored by Thales. For eligibility criteria, please refer to the Defence Vetting Agency website.
