Manufacturing Engineer - Plastics

My client currently has an opportunity for an 18 month contract in the role of Plastics Engineer within the Plastics Manufacturing Department at Burnaston, Derby

The role of Plastics Engineer is to give an engineering/Technical support to the Plastics shop facility on chronic and complex production issues. Ideally the candidate should have an Automotive background with experience of working within an Injection Moulding environment and experience of working in a fast moving consumer goods environment. Additionally there is a strong preference for the candidates to have knowledge in Tool and Die operations.

The role itself will also include activities such as:- -Implementing of Kaizen to existing processes to meet challenging quality, cost, safety and productivity targets.
-Elimination of Mass production defects through root cause analysis and practical problem solving
-Standardisation of processes to ensure safe, high quality and efficiency at all times.

The above activities will be mixed with daily problem solving to achieve the speedy Remedy of mass production issues and longer term projects dealing with larger scale challenges linked with the company annual plan. There is a necessity to work closely with all other departments within the organisation as well as UK/European and Japanese suppliers. There will be the necessity to travel if required.

This is a fast paced challenging position. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and show flexibility in their working practises. They must be able plan, analyse, monitor and make clear judgements using data and facts under pressure. Good communication skills are essential. Proactive target setting and standardisation of outcomes essential.

Essential requirement for this role:-
-Eligibility to reside in the UK
-Minimum Level 5 Degree qualified in relevant field however level 6 is desired with a minimum of 2 years post qualification
