REPORTS TO: ENGINEERING MANAGER
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for the day to day Engineering Activities to support all plant departments, including process, plant maintenance, product development, industrial, tooling and quality assurance.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and recommend plans for production processes, facilities, services and equipment improvements.
As required by the business, works with various products, equipment and disciplines to increase production, quality, efficiency, volume and/or environmental suitability.
Gathers, coordinates and applies basic engineering data using established and appropriate or defined engineering principles and procedures.
Works on assignments involving specific parts or components to improve performance and efficiencies, reduce costs and simplify design.
Translates guidance and engineering principles and procedures into usable working direction for assigned projects.
Identify new products and technology and feasibility for introduction into the facility.
Recommends cost parameters and technical approaches to be used to accomplish goals, confers with Engineering Manager on more difficult aspects.
Conducts the draft development and prepares budget and estimates for assigned projects.
Establish and maintain internal and external records for plant equipment, processes and services.
Develop and maintain QS 9000 systems.
Ensure Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Compliance are adhered to for plant processes
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
Engineering Degree in one or more of the engineering disciplines (mechanical, Industrial Engineering etc.) with a Professional Engineering designation or Community College diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five or more years of engineering experience.
Prior work experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, in progressive roles.
In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods.
Exposure to methodologies or workplace reorganization, such as Lean Production or Synchronous Manufacturing.
Have a working knowledge of component design and manufacturing processes/materials (process include: tube fabrication process controls, flare dies and punches power bender changes, CNC bender development and programming, injection molding, stamping, powdered metal, screw-machine and casting.)
Must be proficient in MS Office Excel applications and possess good writing and verbal communication skills.
Good communication/interpersonal skills; must be very well organized.
