Manufacturing Engineer

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer for our client based in Solothurn.

Description:

- Perform manufacturing process equipment specification and facilitate its acquisition and expediting (URS, RFI, RFQ)
- Planning and supervision of FAT, SAT, construction/installation activities to ensure adherence to site safety and quality requirements
- Perform equipment installation, commissioning and validation (IQ, PQ, OQ).
- Maintain technical documentation of machinery
- Set up maintenance plans
- Coordinate design & development of tools, fixtures, gauges and special equipment for manufacturing operations, product and processes
- Ensure manufacturing process stability in collaboration with other functions, and ramp-up of equipment
- Prepare equipment layouts for manufacturing cells using Lean Manufacturing tool as identified, as well as define utility and infrastructure requirements
- Define Routers, bills of materials and manufacturing processes where relevant
- Define autonomous, preventive and reactive maintenance plans as well as spare part strategy
- Coordinate move of existing assets between sites including management of relevant technical documentation
- Identify, seek approval for and manage capital budget requirements for assigned projects/activities
- Forecasts, plan, track and report on project budget
- Provide timely and accurate reporting on project activities
- Ensure assigned projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner

People

- Actively interface with cross-functional team members, always practicing good team work in support of day to day operating and project requirements
- Demonstrate strong leadership and a clear identifiable work ethos within the Manufacturing Engineering team
- Develop and maintain a Credo & Behavioural Standards based culture within the Manufacturing Engineering team

Quality

- Competent in validation requirements for new equipment, process introductions and process changes
- Preparation and maintenance of manufacturing specifications for specific projects
- Ensure all process development, validation, etc. is managed in accordance with the Quality management system
- Ensure effective closure on any open Quality System documents (Audit Actions, NCR's, CAPA's, etc)

HS&E

- Actively promote a safety culture.
- Lead colleagues and installation contractors to ensure full compliance with site safety requirements.
- Ensure production equipment meets all relevant national and corporate Health, Safety and Environment requirements through completion of required assessments and documentation

Non Technical Skills and Additional Details

- Ability to manage multiple activities or projects in parallel with sound analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Flexible work ethic. Strong influencing skills
- Problem Solving skills - to assist in maintaining project progress and on design issues
- Decision making - required to make decisions on technical issues
- Degree of responsibility - must be capable of taking direction and taking responsibility and ownership of projects and systems
- Excellent planning & organisation skills
- Extent of confidentiality - discretion is essential in view of contact with outside parties, product development strategies, regulatory and sales information
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with good attention to detail
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, with 5+ years relevant experience
- Demonstrated track record of engineering project delivery in regulated industry (FDA, ISO, etc.)
- Previous experience of in medical devices or pharmaceuticals manufacturing industries
- Experience with one or more of the following technologies: metal turning, metal milling equipment, mechanical surface finishing, chemical surface finishing, polymer processing, inspection, automation & conveying
- Previous experience with equipment validation
- Languages: English (fluent) & German (business)

Desirable

- Formal project management qualification/certification, PMP or similar
- Experience in statistical process development techniques
- LEAN and Six Sigma
- Knowledge of SAP, Maximo
