About the Job
Our client has a requirement for a Manager of Counterparty Risk Infrastructure for a 1 Year Contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto, ON.

Role

Provide overall leadership for maintenance and enhancement of counterparty risk infrastructure for the Trading lines of business from both a client/user and system perspective. This includes leading activities for implementation of model changes as well as changes to the risk reporting system infrastructure (specifically they use Adaptiv). Manage relationships and the interaction with clients and vendors. This individual will be managing the risk system (Adaptiv) and interacting with the vendor, the line(s) of business and the internal market risk team.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

- Lead the development of business requirements for Technology & Development and/or vendors for system enhancements (of Adaptiv), including specification of user acceptance test requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate user acceptance testing to ensure business and analytic requirements are correctly implemented.
- Oversee the implementation process to ensure proper and timely implementation of system enhancements.
- Consult with stakeholders to understand the line of business and/or risk objectives, translate business requirements into development tasks, and ensure alignment of priorities.
- Be proactive in identifying issues and proposing and implementing solutions.
- Ensure risk platforms used for risk capture are current and internally consistent.
- Assist in the documentation of procedures, control processes, and policies relevant to internal controls.
- Manage the interaction with end-user groups to provide support as needed.
- Manage the relationships with clients across the organization as well as with the vendor.
- Identify opportunities for improvements within the counterparty risk system infrastructure.
- Represent Market Risk interests vis-à-vis Technology & Development and external vendors to ensure proper and timely implementation of system enhancements within project scope.
- Negotiate timelines.
- Escalate delays or unexpected problems that may impede progress or delay implementation.

Requirements or Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:

- 8 - 10 years of related work experience, preferably in a financial institution.
- Proven ability to provide strategic direction for major projects and initiatives.
- Experience in large IT development projects, with direct experience in developing functional specifications and conducting user acceptance testing
- Strong understanding of derivative products, SFT's (security finance transactions) and market, as well as he risk management methodologies associated with these (ie. model related and pricing).
- Knowledge of Adaptiv (or other risk system) or a Front Office trading system.
- Exposure to quantitative analysis/risk exposure.
- Strong analytic and problem solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent business writing skills and the ability to clearly and precisely articulate complex business practices into clear and easy to follow processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function effectively within a team.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines while paying attention to details.
- Multi-tasking ability.
- Good relationship management skills.
- University degree.
