Manager - Data Center Facilities (Basel Region)

On behalf of a major Pharma client, Harvey Nash is urgently looking for an experienced Manager Datacenter Facilities/DataCenter Facilitator/Generalist for a contracting role till end of 2013 in Basel (Switzerland).

Project overview:
The project aims at consolidating several existing data centres in the region of Basel (Switzerland) into new and redundant facilities in the same region.

Main Tasks:
- Define, optimize and standardize the IT architecture on a global basis within the Program.
- Plan and organize the implementation of new systems architectures and provide consulting.
- Ensure that the installed architecture satisfies defined performance, security and availability parameters.
- Identify (preferably proactively), together with the IT solution provider, any shortcomings in performance and propose solutions for their correction. Ensure adequacy of upgrades.
- Evaluate new technological developments and evolving business requirements and makes recommendations for improved service levels and efficiencies.
- Act as the primary technical resource to client and IT staffs in all phases of development and implementation process.
- Provide in-depth technical and business knowledge to ensure efficient design, programming and implementation.
- Develop reports and presentations on infrastructure products and new technology for all levels of management and technical staff.
- Write related documentation (Architecture Notebook) and communicate.

Special requirements and background:

- Education: University degree or adequate equivalent, desirable education: Masters Degree.
- Languages: Fluent English written & spoken, German desirable.
- At least 5 years of experience in a Data Center domain role in a global company.
- At least fully responsible as team lead for a successful data center project.
- Leadership: demonstrated leaderships skills, minimum of 5 years proven management experience within a Matrix organization (eg as a team leader or in project management).
- Customer Orientation: ability to communicate & align with key IT stakeholders.
- Methodology: savvy in IT process, best practices & standards, eg ITIL
- GxP/SOX: sound knowledge of validation practice
- In-depth knowledge and experience in IT infrastructure and related technical integration aspects.
- Ability to cope with project and operations complexities, ambiguities and Matrix organizations.
- Good understanding of processes/organization etc. is a true asset
- Experience with MS Office Tools and MS SharePoint.
- Team work in a challenging IT environment.
- Ability to work in an international as well as multicultural environment.
- Flexibility and experience in prioritizing tasks and dealing with variable workload.

Project details:
- Start: ASP in march 2013
- End: 27.12.2013
- No remote option, working time is 40 hours per week with the team in Basel, local travel between the DataCenters (up to 10%)
- Language: ENGLISH mandatory, GERMAN is a plus
