MAMMALIAN GENETICS LAB TECHNICIAN needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in DIXON, CA.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- The Transgenic Technology department seeks a motivated laboratory technician who will assist in discovery of groundbreaking therapeutics by supporting the primary research of several hundred internal customers.
- The responsibilities include processing samples in the laboratory (both manually and via laboratory robotics), analysing and performing quality control of genetic data, and helping to evaluate and implement new technologies.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Applicants should have a learning mindset, be able to work in a fluid and diverse environment, and possess a strong desire to participate in research support efforts while feeling comfortable working primarily in a laboratory setting.
- One or more years' job experience in an academic or industrial research laboratory (university and class experience does not qualify)
- Basic understanding of PCR, quantitative/Real Time PCR (TaqMan; 5' nuclease assay), and other nucleic acid amplification and detection techniques.
- A more qualified candidate would also have functional knowledge regarding routine mammalian genetic constructs used in genome engineering, such as conditional knock-out models employing the Cre-Lox system
- Deeply appreciate working with a team of very high diversity in many categories
- Find structured and repetitive tasks to be reassuring rather than confining
- Enjoy working with cutting-edge laboratory instrumentation and robotics
- Agree that the process of learning requires vulnerability
- Want to uphold department's values of trust, courage, support and critical feedback
- It is preferred, but not required to have knowledge or experience working with laboratory robotics (eg, Labcyte Echo & Access system, Beckman Coulter Biomek FXp, etc.) and genetic analyzers (eg, ABI 3730-XL, BioRad CFX-Touch, etc.)
- Experience with ddPCR is also welcomed.
- Enjoy working in a cross-functional, team-focused environment and are passionate about working with coworkers to deliver the greatest value through research support efforts.
- Pragmatic about the tradeoffs between quality and timeliness
- Follow laboratory best practices and will work to help team do the same
- Comfortable working in a dynamic scientific environment, especially one that is related to drug development
- This job role requires working one weekend day every other week or each week, depending on production needs.

- A Bachelors degree or higher in Life Sciences
